*Disclaimer: MDMA is not yet a FDA approved or legal medicine for treatment of mental health disorders or approved for assisted psychotherapy but has shown great promise in research studies.
Losing patients to suicide, even after decades of relying on traditional medication regimens, has been deeply disheartening and profoundly impactful. Over the past two years, Our providers have enrolled in multiple fellowships in psychedelic-assisted psychotherapy to expand and modernize the outdated treatment options available to providers. Through extensive research, didactic learning, and experiential training, We have come to wholeheartedly believe in the transformative healing potential and power of psychedelics in treatment of trauma, depression, anxiety, OCD, and many other psychiatric diagnosis. .
In August 2023, the FDA declined to approve MDMA for the treatment of PTSD, citing the need for additional research to confirm its efficacy and safety. This underscores the importance of further investigation into the potential of MDMA-assisted therapy (MDMA-AT) to improve mental health outcomes, particularly for PTSD.
Wirsa Wellness plans to establish a dedicated healing clinic and retreat center in hopes to serve as a research site for psychedelic therapies in the near future. Given the unique requirements of MDMA-AT and similar treatments—such as prolonged sessions and the need for overnight monitoring—an adequate facility is essential. Many patients, including veterans and survivors of abuse, endure complex, unrelenting trauma. This innovative treatment has the potential to provide profound relief and healing, offering hope for those burdened by decades of suffering.
